We have received information that a new locksmith site has been launched that relies heavily on posts and data that were originally made on Internet-Locksmith.com.
We believe this new site is run by people who were formerly affiliated with Internet-Locksmith.com and who are knowledgeable about copyright laws in the United States and Canada. As such they should know that the copyright on all posts at Internet-Locksmith -- and any other online forum, including lockradio.com -- belongs to the individual posters and not any individual site.
To reproduce posts, photographs and documents from one site to another and present them as posts belonging to the new site without the explicit permission of the original author is an act of blatant piracy.
We're not talking about quoting posts from other sites for the purposes of education or discussion. That's allowed by the "fair use doctrine" in copyright law and we see nothing wrong with that. But that is not what this new site has done. We believe they have copied the entire Internet-Locksmith database and plan to present it to the public as their own. Even a law professor at the University of Pennsylvania can tell you, there is no gray area here. This is piracy in its purest form and we suggest the hundreds of posters whose original work has been co-opted by pirates stand up for their rights in whatever legal forum they choose to use.
Lock Radio understands the challanges involved in starting a new site, however we find it deplorable that others would outright steal the creativity and individual contributions of members on the Internet-Locksmith site.
Persons listed as operators, admins and other online users will be identifiied upon inspection of further data supplied by our listeners.
